Nebraska Democratic Women’s Caucus
Inspiring Women Scholarship
Political trailblazer Helen Boosalis is the inspiration for a scholarship to benefit democratic women students. The Inspiring Women Scholarship, established in 2009 following Boosalis’ death, will be awarded to three women; one from each congressional district in Nebraska.
Helen Boosalis was an inspiration to Nebraska Women. The Nebraska Democratic Women’s Caucus (NDWC) wanted to find a way to honor her while encouraging tomorrow’s female political leaders. The $500 scholarship will go to three Nebraska women who are active in their communities and progressive politics.
Applications for the $500 Scholarship are limited to Nebraska democratic women who are graduating from high school and will be attending college or those that are continuing in higher education . Applicants are asked to submit an essay of up to 500 words about a female politician or community activist who inspired their own community service and political involvement.
Essays should be submitted by July 1 to the NDWC at the address above. For questions about the scholarship, please contact Mary Herres, NDWC Chair at: email@example.com or 402-617-2089. The scholarship will be presented at the Inspiring Women Luncheon in Lincoln the last Friday of August.
